Patanjali’s Yogasutras are a universal text in which everyone will find the answer to the questions about life that bother him. Today we are discussing the next, fourth principle described in this book, which in Sanskrit is called Bramacharya.

Bramacharya, or what?

Brachmacharya = celibacy; Viarya = vigor; Iabhaha = gained.

“Whoever lives in celibacy
gains vigor.”

Bramacharya means celibacy.

Oh I know …

So much is written, especially in foreign magazines, about how asanas can heal sexual intercourse … Whereas ancient yoga is based on celibacy!

Does this mean that one should renounce all sexual relations while practicing yoga?

Opinions on this topic are divided.

In my opinion the answer is no.

If we look at the translation of the meaning of Bramacharya, we see that the goal of celibacy is vigor, or fullness of energy.

Sexual intercourse results in some way in the flow of energy, but it also causes us to identify with bodily pleasures.

Yoga teaches us to go beyond the physical body and experience the power of the spirit that we have within us.

When you meditate, you realize that you are more than just a physical body.

You feel the lightness of the feather. Read More: 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh.

The more joyful we become in meditation , the more we realize the infinite awareness that is within us.

Hence – we feel less tension or physical weight of the body.

This is the practice of Brahmacharya – not bothering with senses, but seeking shelter within ourselves, reaching our true nature.

Queuing for vigor

Each of us wants a life full of strength and energy.

That is why I suggest starting with the rejection of activities in our lives that take away our energy: improper work, inappropriate physical exercises, wrong hobby or hours spent watching TV.

Think about what or who is an energy vampire in your life. Start avoiding it. Surround yourself with positive energy.

Magical power of meditation

Meditation is one of the practices that stabilize our energy and emotions.

Even 5 minutes spent in meditation can change our mood.

Meditation can also allow us to free ourselves from negative emotions that take our energy to live.
